Oxley's farm at the bottom of Miller's Lane is pictured in the 1960's with a cow outside the byre. The farm's herd of cows would be taken half way up Colbeck Avenue where there was a gate into the field behind Coalway Lane which led to fields between Swalwell and Whickham near where the present school and park are.
