Swalwell Buildings
On the left of the bridge is the toll house which provided accommodation for the tollkeeper in the days when the road was part of the turnpike and using each section required the payment of a toll. The house is now known as Bridge End Cottage and is Swalwell's second oldest building, after the Angel Inn.
